This novel follows the picture-perfect Richardson family and a mysterious mother and daughter who uproot the Richardson’s family. I enjoyed this novel immensely and think you might too!

Dawn, Administrative Assistant

One of this year’s CT Reads selections, Transcendent Kingdom by Yaa Gyasi, is a personal and poignant look at issues that continue to plague our society: racism, addiction, and mental illness. As a young girl, Gifty relies on her religion to try to bring her comfort as she maneuvers her family’s experience as Ghanian immigrants in Alabama. After suffering devastating loss there, she turns to science for answers. While she finds academic success at Harvard and Stanford, Gifty and her mother continue to struggle with the fallout of their past. A moving read.
