At a Socrates discussion, participants explore, interrogate, and investigate, in friendly conversation. They have an opportunity to explore the world through listening to others who might look at the world quite differently. It is not a place to argue, debate, or persuade. Each month the conversation varies and one will never know in advance where it may lead. No preparation is necessary; there is not a designated book-of-the-month to read or philosophic topic to study. The only request is that you come with an open mind and a friendly attitude and be willing to let your mind expand. Meeting topics are suggested by those present, and one subject is selected by group consensus. Most people find they have lots to think about and say, more than they imagined, throughout the course of the discussion. Others may prefer to simply listen.

Our facilitator, Loretta Donovan, has twenty-eight years of experience as a facilitator, has taught inquiry based facilitation at Columbia University, and also certifies others in strength based facilitation.
