Caroline has worked in libraries for over 15 years, most recently she was the library director in Catskill
NY. She has also worked at libraries in Farmington Connecticut and Peekskill New York. She loves to
read, mostly contemporary fiction and has just started getting into mysteries and has a special place in
her heart for Confederacy of Dunces by John Kennedy Toole and The House of the Spirts by Isabel
Allende. She also enjoys having cooking contests with her husband, who almost always wins and going
on adventures with her dog Rufus.
Debbie Brooks
Assistant Director, Head of Children's Services

Before taking over as Head of Children’s Services, Debbie was the Children’s Program Assistant here at the library. Debbie brings a lifelong love of learning, as well as a background in Elementary Education, most recently as a preschool teacher here in Brookfield. She is a graduate of Manhattanville College and is currently pursuing her MLIS degree from San Jose State University. Debbie is very involved in the schools and community with her husband, Mike, and their three children.
Kristen Boisvert
Library Program & Social Media Assistant
Kristen has been an avid reader since she was fitted with her first pair of glasses. When she’s not in the library, you can find her watching hockey with her husband (go Habs go!), practicing her photography skills, playing video games, and listening to music (Hozier, Fleetwood Mac, and Paramore are her top 3 faves). She loves to read memoirs, stories with magical realism, and poetry.
Dawn Cioffi
Administrative Assistant

Dawn has lived in Brookfield for over 20 years and loves this community! A graduate of WCSU, she first worked at the library as a part-time cataloger, and is currently the Administrative Assistant. She and her husband have two children and a six-year old rescue dog named Rowan. Dawn is happiest when watching her daughter dance on the Sacred Heart University Dance ensemble, or watching her son play on the BHS basketball team. She also enjoys cooking, papercrafting, and watching sports, especially NASCAR, the LA Rams, and basketball. Her favorite genre of literature is historical fiction.
Joy Devorsetz
Adult Services Librarian
Joy began library work way back in 1988 and has worked in several different kinds of libraries along the way. She is a graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a degree in Journalism and also holds an MBA in Finance from Clark University. As a longtime resident of Brookfield, Joy and her husband, Dan, have raised three children and also have a number of cats. Reading, traveling and fishing are among the many hobbies she enjoys.
Jennifer Doyon
Head of Information Technology Services Librarian

If she has her way, you will find Jennifer at a concert, movie, designing a website, or reading mystery or teen fiction. She also enjoys anything cat-related, watching NFL football (Go Bills!), and spending time with her friends and family. Jennifer received her Master’s Degree in Library Science from Clarion University of PA in 2003. She has also worked at libraries in Pennsylvania and New York.
Mary Ellen Gill
Children's Librarian

Mary Ellen Gill (Miss Meg) received her MLS from Southern Connecticut State University in 2012 and holds a Bachelor of Science in Government with a History Minor from Morehead State University in Kentucky. She loves to travel and enjoys planting flowers and looking after her little flock of chickens. She has been very happily married for almost 20 years and is the proud mom of two awesome boys (and one smelly coon hound). She loves Children’s poetry and her favorite books to read are historical fiction with a dash of fantasy thrown in just for fun.
Stacey Nunes-Ranchy
Technical Services
Stacey moved to Brookfield with her husband, two children and two cats in 2009. She started at The Brookfield Library as a circulation assistant in 2018. She has a BA in French and a Masters in TESOL. Stacey’s passions include travel, linguistics, music and her favorite genres include historical fiction and YA.
Deborah O'Brien
Circulation Assistant
Deborah and her husband moved to Brookfield 6 years ago from NYC with their rescue dog Jewel. The first thing she did was get a library card from The Brookfield Library. She attended St John’s University and Queens College and worked as a paralegal for over 25 years.
When she’s not spending time with her three grandsons she enjoys traveling, needlepoint, tap dancing and playing the drums. Deborah has also volunteered at Ann’s Place, Handy Man and The Brookfield Library.
Ken Rietschel

Ken graduated from Western Connecticut State University with a B.A. in Political Science and a Minor in History. His favorite genre is Historical Fiction and his favorite novel is A Tree Grows in Brooklyn by Betty Smith. He has worked in public libraries since he was 18. When not working he loves to be at or near the beach.
Angelica Rodriguez
Circulation Supervisor
Angelica is a recent grad from the University of New Haven with a B.A. in Psychology and a minor in Sociology. She is currently attending TRCC for her Library Technician Certification. Her preferred genres include History and graphic novels (picture books are for adults too!), though she has recently developed an interest in YA fantasy novels. Angelica’s hobbies include jewelry making, needle felting, baking, gem collecting and playing video games.
Zanny Stowell
Teen Services Librarian

Zanny graduated from Southern Connecticut State University with her Master’s in Library and Information Science in 2022. She also attended SCSU for her undergrad, where she received a BA in English and a minor in Anthropology. Her favorite genres to read are scifi, horror, “new weird”, and non-fiction. In her spare time, she also likes writing, art, video games, music, and pulpy old horror films.
Nancy Treuer
Reference Librarian
Nancy and her husband have been Brookfield residents for 22 years where they happily raised their three daughters. They are both now enjoying their four grandchildren when they can. We have two rescue dogs, Gus and Sadie.
She has a BBA from Pace University in Management Information Systems and began her career as a computer programmer. Prior to joining The Brookfield Library, she worked for over 20 years for Pace University as an Academic Advisor.
Some of her favorite pastimes are card making and stamping, reading, crocheting, and tap dancing!
Andrea White
Circulation Assistant
Andrea held her first library job at Siena College where she earned her BS degree in biology. She and her husband, Brian, moved to Brookfield in 2006, where they raised their three children. She is happiest when she is outside hiking, visiting national parks, gardening and kayaking. She enjoys reading non-fiction, historical fiction, craft and travel books.
