Intro to Microsoft Word - Session 1 (12/8, 6:30 p.m.)

During session 1 of this hands-on 3-part series on Microsoft Word, you will learn the basics, such as:

  • Opening Microsoft Word
  • Using menus, buttons and bars
  • Starting a new document
  • Inserting, editing and deleting text
  • Saving a document
  • Opening an existing document
  • Formatting text
  • Opening a document
  • Working with paragraphs
  • Viewing a document in different ways
  • Saving a document
  • Using the ruler and tabs
  • Setting margins
  • Using page breaks

You need not attend all sessions to participate, BUT YOU MUST REGISTER FOR ALL SESSIONS YOU WOULD LIKE TO ATTEND.  You should have some experience with computers and the Windows operating system before attending this class.

There is no charge for any of the classes in this series, but there is a one-time of fee of $10 to cover the cost of the course book (this book covers all 3 sessions).  This fee may be paid at the Checkout Desk or via PayPal prior to the class, or on the day of the class.

Limit of 6 attendees per class.  Register online, by phone, or at the Checkout Desk by December 7.

This class will be held upstairs in the library.

  • Put text into two columns
  • Move text from one document to another using Cut, Copy and Paste
  • Use the Find and Replace commands
  • Learn how to use bullets and numbers in a list
  • Review document views, saving and printing
  • Learn about computer memory
  • Open and close documents
  • Save documents
  • Rename and save versions of the same document
  • Organize documents
  • Learn about Windows Explorer

You need not attend all sessions to participate, BUT YOU MUST REGISTER FOR ALL SESSIONS YOU WOULD LIKE TO ATTEND.  You should have some experience with computers and the Windows operating system before attending this class.
